George Krementz, of German origin, formed Alling & Krementz in 1869. In 1884 George Krementz had patented a new design for one-piece collar buttons, Much of their business in those years lay in the production of those collar buttons. ”The firm’s earliest mark - a button sometimes described as an umbrella with two handles - reflects the companies with it collar buttons”. In the late Vicyotian Krementz also created high quality jewellery, like their small blue champlevé forget-me-nots. This design due to its success, copied by other manufacturers.Their enamelling technique is extremely fine like the other famous Newark maker, Hedges.
