Gazdar
GAZDAR, founded in Bombay (Mumbai) in the 1930's by Dinshah and Rusi Gazdar when they opened their shop in the world famous TAJ MAHAL Hotel. From the beginning Gazdar has always been associated with high quality gemstones as well as finely crafted jewellery. They were appointed jewellers to a number of Princely Indian states such as Hyderabad. Over the years many Maharaja families became regular customers as well as famous visitors from the West, like Alfred Hitchcock, Margaret Thatcher, Gregory Peck and many other celebrities. "Before Independence, the Tay Mahal Hotel hosted regular meetings of Maharajas.....This meant that the royal heads of Palitana, Travancore and Golconda, the Gaikwad of Baroda and many others like the Nizam of Hyderabad would "sashay" down to Gazdar's once every three months to clean its shelves of jewels for their wives." Gazdar Jewellers is still located in the Mumbai Taj Mahal Hotel
